DIY Buddha clay mural painting

Buddha clay murals are always on trend and they just add a peaceful feeling to the home. You just need few craft materials to achieve this stunning Clay mural.

 We will make Buddha in the woods among the lotus. Perfect way to say practice mindfulness and meditation.

Hope you are inspired by the idea and try this project.

You will need:

12″*16″ Canvas board

Shilpakar clay/ air dry clay

Artist Acrylic painting – Scarlett Red, Titanium white, yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Black, Sap green

Painting brush


How to make

I am using shilpakar clay, an Indian brand clay for creating the mural. We can also use air dry clay for making the mural.

Draw the design on the canvas board, if you can’t draw we’ll take a reference picture from the internet and trace the design on the canvas board. I have drawn Buddha in the woods. 

Cover the trees and lotus using clay. For texture use clay tools.

Apply Black gesso for the base. If you don’t have black gesso use black acrylic paint.

Color the Buddha, trees and the lotus. 

For Buddha I used yellow ochre, 

For trees l used burnt umber, yellow ochre, black.

For the lotus stem I used sap green

For lotus I used Scarlet red and titanium white.

Used Acrylic paint to color the Buddha, trees and the lotus
